OFCC board members on Wednesday met with representatives of Governor John Kasich to discuss a bill that would ban hidden compartments in motor vehicles. The bill's definition of "hidden compartments" might include safes, lockboxes, and other devices and spaces that gun owners currently use to lawfully and safely store their firearms.

The governor's office requested the meeting after OFCC published its concern about the new "hidden compartment" bill earlier this week.

"Governor Kasich's team seemed willing to consider new wording in the bill that would protect the rights of firearm owners," said OFCC board member Doug Deeken. "But we'll be watching this bill very cautiously. The legislation in its current form represents a significant infringement on the rights of Ohio's law-abiding gun owners."

The "hidden compartment" bill has been named SB305, and can be tracked here.
